History
Establishment of the Document Center of Shahid Beheshti University dates back to the 1960s. At that time, documents were a small part of the library and a diminutive part of the central library had been allocated to documents. But in practice, six decades later, in 2017, this part officially became a separate department in the library. The aim of this department is to collect physical form of documents and artefacts and make them accessible by digitalization, systematization, storage and retrieval process. Since 2016, the document center of the central library has become a remarkable part of SBU that contains a wide variety of old magazines, journals, newspapers, manuscripts, and old books. Paintings and boards are another part of this center that contains paintings of “Mosavar-ol- Molk”. Also, there are Calligraphies, old appliances of photography and cinematography, old microfilms and microfiches, 16mm educational and promotional films, and other types of old objects that have made accessible for visiting and studying. Photo panels, rail films and educational and cultural cassettes, as well as two large devoted collections of the late Dr. Khosrow Behroon and Professor Ahmad Birashk are other parts of this center. Besides, other electronic recording and broadcasting devices related to past six decades are available in the document center.
The Museum and Document Center of SBU has been active in publishing collections and producing books and publications of archival materials. For example, a book entitled "Dr. Khosrow Behroon's Memoir" has been prepared and arranged by the document center of SBU.
Objectives of Document Center and Museum:
Identification and collection of old objects of Shahid Beheshti University in the museum and document center;
Organizing, processing and presenting honors, achievements, valuable assets and historical contents and objects in the museum of SBU;
Collecting and maintaining valuable collections such as manuscripts, rare books, illustrations, photographs, letters and notes of great scientific figures.
