Main library repository located on the ground floor of the central library of SBU

Main collection of the central library contains more than 80,625 titles of Persian and Arabic books and 45,807 foreign titles in English, French, and German languages. Classification method of the central library collection is based on Dewey decimal classification. Bibliographic information of all manuscripts and information objects is searchable and accessible through Azarsa system (lib.sbu.ac.ir).

Reference collection of the central library located on the second floor

This collection includes more than 6,100 titles of Persian books and more than 6,300 titles of English, French and German books, and 300 titles of reference books in other languages.
 This collection contains miscellaneous types of reference books such as almanacs, guides, geographic maps (numbered list), statistical reposts (available from 1956 to 1996) and binded newspaper volumes.

Children's and adolescent books repository located on the southern side of the first floor

It is the first specialized children and adolescent library in a university environment. The aim of this collection is to offer library services to the children of faculty members, staff and students of SBU. The other aim of this collection is to make comprehensive collection of child books for the purpose of children literature studies. Children section of the central library has started its activities since 2018 by 4697 title of Persian books and 180 title of foreign books but currently contains a large collection of miscellaneous types of printed materials. 
The children and adolescent section is an open collection that contains valuable archival resources, including the complete series of the specialized magazines, encyclopedias, films (produced by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults).  Dewey decimal classification method have been used for organizing the collection. Bibliographic information of this collection is searchable by Azarsa system (lib.sbu.ac.ir) and accessible in the library. In addition, colored labels have been used to specify several types of materials easily.  Membership of faculty members, staff, and SBU students is free. Colleagues of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences also can use the services of this section. We have used specialized collection development strategies to collect best resources for scientific and emotional development of children. Every month, we add around 50 book titles to this collection on the basis of user’s needs.

Document center and museum located on the southern side of the second floor

The museum and document section of the Central Library of Shahid Beheshti University was inaugurated in September 2018.
This collection includes more than 13,000 leaden printed books, old books printed by stone letters, old manuscripts, documents, films, slides, music pages, photographs, videos, old paintings, etc.
Descriptive information of these documents are inputed in Azarsa system (lib.sbu.ac.ir) and searchable for Persian language users.

Periodic publications repository located on the floor minus one  

As one of the most important parts of the central library of SBU, the periodicals section plays an important role in the knowledge creation. This section includes more than 2400 titles of Persian Journals and more than 2300 titles of journals in English, French, German and other languages. The collection of publications is searchable and accessible through the comprehensive Azarsa system (lib.sbu.ac.ir). Users can also use physical volumes of journal titles in the central library at periodicals section.

Reading Rooms

Women Reading Room: Located on the second floor of the central library, which is open from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Men Reading Room: Located on the ground floor of the IT building, which is active from 8 AM to 10 PM.
