History
Main Objectives
The Central Library, Documentation Center and Museum of Shahid Beheshti University started its activities in 1960 at the same time as the establishment of the university, and in 1970 it was transferred to the current building of the university's central library that consists of two centers of library and documentation center, and museum. The central library collection consists of books and publications (Persian, Arabic and English, etc.), dissertations, reports, and databases. The university's central library has ancillary libraries in various faculties, research centers and institutes. These peripheral libraries are under centralized management but indexing and preparing resources in each of the libraries were done separately, and libraries are specialized in providing services. Students can also be members of the Central Library in addition to the libraries of their faculties or research institutes.

Objectives of Central Library, Documentation Center and Museum:
- Preparing, collecting and making scientific and literary books and publications accessible for the use of students, faculty members and researchers;
- Applying the modern techniques of library and information science in the central library and other faculty and research libraries in Shahid Beheshti University;
- Implementing technical services and facilitating access to books, publications, and other information formats;
- Giving specialized supports and services to peripheral faculty and research libraries at SBU.
